Collins Writing Program

Collins Writing was developed by a man named John Collins. He developed the program to increase writing in all ages.  Drury High School has adapted this program into our school. 

 Types:

1: Meant for brainstorming, getting pencil to paper, and get kids thinking. Guesses are acceptable. We want kids to begin to write something. This type of writing is timedand requires aminimum number of items or lines.  This is graded as a check or minus.

2: Correct answers only! This type of writing shows that the writer knows something about a topic or has thought about the topic. Students will receive a grade.

3: Type 3 writing has substantive content and meets three specific standards called focus correction areas (FCA's). FCA's are introduced. FCA's are Focus Correction Areas and look for specific skills within student writing.

4: Peer Edit: Students will switch papers to help others improve their writing. Type 4 writing is a Type 3 wrting that is read out loud and critiqued by another. 

5: Publishable quality!
